Description

This indicator relates to the size, type and strength of the social networks of someone with an alcohol or drug problem. It can be used to measure how well they are doing at managing their alcohol or drug problem. This indicator is one of ten points on the Alcohol Star developed by Triangle Consulting as part of their suite of Outcomes Stars. Each point on the star represents an area of change for someone who is suffering with a drug or alcohol problem. By analysing the changes within each of these areas, they can indicate how well someone is doing in managing their drug or alcohol problem. The Outcomes Star is a unique suite of tools for supporting and measuring change when working with people. There are over 20 versions of the Outcomes Star carefully adapted for different client groups. This indicator is one of the ten points on the Alcohol Star. The changing social networks of an individual with a drug and alcohol problem can be an indicator of how well they are doing at managing their problem. For example; if an individual improves their social networks this is a good indication that the alcohol or drug problem is being managed well. NB: It is important to consider this information in conjunction with the other indicators as defined by the Alcohol Star. The method to measuring how well someone is managing an alcohol or drug problem is described through the Outcomes Star guidelines and associated training.
