New Economy Manchester have developed the Unit Cost Database as part of their ongoing work in support of Cost Benefit Analysis.  The database contains over 600 estimates for financial proxies from seven different areas as follows;

  • Crime
  • Education and skills
  • Employment and Economy
  • Fire
  • Health
  • Housing
  • Social Services

Collectively the categories cover a wide spectrum, from social services costs of a child in local authority care through to the average cost of the theft of a vehicle, the estimates are assured by New Economy in co-operation with HM Government.  This information has come from academic research and government reports where in most cases they provide a national average.

We have grouped the valuations within outcomes on the global value exchange so that they can be found easily.  For example, if you looked under the outcome for Use of NHS Staff (change in) and click on the valuations you will be able to find the labour costs of various types of staff across the NHS, e.g. the annual cost of a GP or the cost of a clinical psychologist.

These valuations are particularly exciting and very useful for calculating costs or savings and are now available for free on the Global Value Exchange!

Please tell us what you think about the new entries by logging in and leaving your comments. You can also rate the entries and tell us if you used them! Any questions please contact us.
